There are many events that take place locally, both in and around Matlock Bath throughout the year. Below is a selection of events that may be of interest to visitors of Heathbank Bed and Breakfast.

Matlock Bath Illuminations and Venetian Nights

Throughout September till the last weekend of October visitors can enjoy the Matlock Bath Illuminations and Venetian Nights.

At this time the riverbanks are decorated with lights and the cliffs are floodlit. Each weekend there is a procession of illuminated and decorated boats on the river. There is also a funfair, plus stalls and catering as well as live music and entertainment. On certain weekends there is also a clifftop firework display.

Matlock Victorian Christmas Weekend

Each year, on the first full weekend of December, Matlock begins its Christmas festivities with a Victorian Weekend and Market.

• Over 100 stalls including large marquee and local produce
• Santa's Grotto
• Children's rides and stalls
• Fireworks display on Sunday
• And a feast of family Christmas entertainment

Well Dressing

Derbyshire is famous for its Well Dressings, which date back centuries to the Celts or perhaps even earlier. Well Dressing is found in or near Derbyshire and at its simplest, it's the art of decorating springs and wells with pictures made of growing things.
